Guided Mountain Walks – Grades and Terrain

We do not rush around the mountains, preferring a gentle pace with plenty of time to relax and enjoy the hills. However, a suitable level of fitness is required for our guided mountain walks and holidays. Our guided walks include a range of mountain terrains where paths vary from relatively smooth and gentle to steep and rocky. To help you choose a suitable walk we have graded them in three categories – Easy, Classic and Challenging. Please set a realistic objective. If you would like to discuss your choice please get in touch.

Easy:

These walks are generally up to 6 miles long, include no more than 500m of ascent and take around 4-5 hours to complete. Walking is generally on good mountain paths and easy ground with low amounts of steep terrain. Examples of Easy Walks include:

One-to-one and Small Group Guided Mountain Walks

Guided Mountain walking is available on a one-to-one or small group basis. This allows me to tailor your guided walk to your specific requirements, fitness and interest. Walking in a small group limits environmental impact, allows us to enjoy the beauty and solitude of the mountains and provides you with an opportunity to ask about the landscape, perhaps develop your navigation and mountain skills or just enjoy the company of friends.  Whatever walk you decide I will do my best to ensure you have a safe, high quality and enjoyable day.

Guided Walking Costs: one-to-one guided walk £160.  Private Groups £220 (2-6 people).

Please e-mail your preferred dates to book your day(s) and arrange payment.

Young people under the age of 18 are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Open Group Guided Mountain Walks

Several of our guided walks are also available as an open group walk through AirBnB Experiences. The group size is limited to 6 people and provides an ideal opportunity to join like minded people, make new friends and have a great time.

Open group bookings are available from £75

At present open group walks include:

Coniston Old Man

Bowfell

Langdale Pikes

Scafell Pike (this walk starts and finishes from the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel in Great Langdale)

Accommodation

My guided walking does not include accommodation allowing you to choose exactly what you prefer. A large range of accommodation is available in the Lake District and we are happy to help organise this. You could also consider booking a wild camping and walking course on a one-to-one basis. This is especially enjoyable and beneficial in the summer when the sun sets late and rises early. Please visit our wild camping and photography page for more details.

Guided walking beyond the Lake District

If you wish to explore an area outside of the Lake District please contact me by e-mail or phone for an informal chat about your requirements. I am a regular visitor to Snowdonia and the Brecon Beacons and just love walking and photographing Britain’s wild places.

Gift Cards

One-to-one and small group guided walks make memorable gifts. If you book a one-to-one or small group guided walk as an inspirational gift or for a special occasion you will be provided with a downloadable voucher containing details of the day.
