Golden Hour Photography (Sunrise and Sunset Photography)

The “Golden Hours” are generally accepted as the hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset. During this time the sun is low in the sky, cool blue light is filtered out by the atmosphere and the mountains are bathed in a warm red light. Visiting the mountains during these magical hours provides awe-inspiring opportunities to produce stunning photographs.

To help you capture these fleeting moments the golden hour workshop will consider:

  • Planning to photograph the “Golden Hour”
  • Capturing colours, warmth and depth
  • Use of filters
  • Setting-up and composition

To allow for sunrises, sunsets and “Golden Hour” photography these courses incorporate early morning starts or late night finishes. Early morning, late afternoon and early evening courses last approximately 7-8 hours and run throughout the year.

All you need to bring is your personal kit (including spare warm clothing), camera (filters and tripod if you have them), food and a flask of hot drink. Don’t forget your head torch as we will be outside in the dark.

One-to-one Golden Hour Photography and Small Group Courses

The Golden Hour Mountain Photography Course (sunrise and sunset) is available on a one-to-one or small group basis. This allows me to tailor your course to your specific requirements, skill level and interest. Whatever you decide I will do my best to ensure you have a high quality and enjoyable time.

Course Costs: one-to-one tuition £180pp;  Small Groups: 2-4 people  £220.

Please e-mail your preferred dates to book your day(s) and arrange payment.

Young people under the age of 18 are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Accommodation

My photography courses are booked without accommodation allowing you to choose exactly what you prefer. A large range of accommodation is available in the Lake District and we are happy to help you organise this. You could also consider booking a wild camping and photography course on a one-to-one basis. This is especially enjoyable and beneficial in the summer when the sun sets late and rises early. Please visit our Wild Camping and Photography page for more details.

Golden Hour Photography beyond the Lake District

If you wish to explore an area outside of the Lake District please contact me by e-mail or phone for an informal chat about your requirements. I am a regular visitor to Snowdonia and the Brecon Beacons and just love visiting and photographing Britain’s wild places.
